It has been a while since I worked on this painting....here is my 3rd progress jpeg... a few things have changed ... specially the color... since my last posting but I'm starting to like the feeling I'm getting in the piece..:)

It's been a while since I did some sketches....being that it is summer I thought if would only be right to get back on track on my sketching with a beach sketch.:)

Hawaii

My girlfriend was out visiting Hawaii with some of her friends...She took some really cool pics and I decided to use them as reference for this sketch.

Dynamic Duo

On one of my paintball trips with my brother I coworker of his took cool picture of us... I used it as reference to come up with this painting....It's a bit Haloisk but I'm happy with the outcome.:)

Hadn't been able to do any sketches for awhile as I had been busy with work. I came across a couple of pictures a friend took while on her vacation.. I saw some great shots and decided to use them as reference for today's warm up....wish I was there...

I took pictures at the arboretum a while back and I thought I should finally put them to good use since I couldn't make the trip down there

Neuschwanstein river 30min sketch

I used as reference a picture I took way back when I got to live in Germany while I was working and taking a break from school. This was a creek you find at the bottom of the mountain where the Neuschwainstein castle lies. That castle is the one the disney castle is based of. I wished I had some paints there and had painted it from life. :(

Since yesterday I painted my niece it seemed right that I would follow it up with a painting of my nephew.. one bad cowboy.:)

Today I decided to spend a little more time on my warm up. I used my niece as my model...well actually a picture of her.... I don't think I can get her to sit long enough for me to capture her...hopefully she doesn't mind.:)

Progress 2

Here is my second progress posting. I'm still laying items in but I've gotten to the point where I can begin adding detail and pushing things back and forward to add depth to the piece.

Today's 10 min warm up came out a bit darker than I expected... I didn't have anything specifically in mind so I just let my pen do its thing. The result was this dark character... maybe I've been watching the dark night too much... hopefully the next one will be more cheery.:)

I'm trying to get in the habit of doing a warm up sketch before I begin working ...of course depending on how busy I may be that may not always be the case... for my very first 1, I decided to keep it simple... a quick 10min self portrait... I wanted to just focus on shapes...like a painting... took me back to Bob Cato's sketching for Illustration class in school... for my very first one... specially since i normally dont sketch on a computer .. I think it came out good... needs plenty of work but for a 10 min sketch...I think I captured myself good..specially in the eyes..:)

Painting

I began painting one of the thumbnails from my prior post. I thought it would be cool to keep track of my work in progress of the painting and see how it develops. Hopefully this helps me be a bit less self conscious about showing my work in progress.

story

I'm finally getting around to creating a blog and playing with it. These are two sketches I came up with from a story I wrote while taking a children's literature class a few years ago. I recently came across it while cleaning some of my junk and got inspired by it. They are a bit rough but this lets me get the feeling of the piece without spending too much on detail. I think I will carry the second one to finish... let's see what happens.
